Meeting with Laure: Oceanic Meditation and its Benefits

Dive into the soothing world of ocean meditation with Laure. Founder of the Ocean Therapy®️ method, she shares her journey and her valuable advice for integrating the benefits of the ocean into your daily life, even far from the coast.
Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your journey with the ocean?
My name is Laure, I am passionate about the Ocean and convinced of its benefits. I chose to make it my profession to share this richness and make it more accessible. I wanted to explain what the ocean can bring us: contact with the sea spray, the salty air, the mineral salts and trace elements. All of these elements have a positive impact on our well-being. So I immersed myself in the subject, I met many experts and that's how I created my well-being method, Ocean Therapy®️ , in 2019.
This method aims to transmit the benefits of the ocean and to help everyone integrate this routine into their daily lives, even far from the coast. Ultimately, it's a real state of mind. I also wrote a book on the subject, called Ocean Therapy®️ , and I also organize immersive stays to introduce this method.
In 2020, during the lockdown, I launched Ocean Therapy®️TV , an online platform offering wellness workshops filmed facing the ocean. The goal is to allow everyone to feel this connection to the ocean, wherever they are. On the platform, I share advice on sea bathing, seaweed and the benefits of sea salt, in addition to yoga, sports and meditation sessions, all filmed facing the ocean for total immersion.
The idea is that even if you're at the office, in the city, etc., you can open the platform and feel like you're breathing, like you're connected to the ocean. Enjoy this method everywhere, wherever you are.
How do you define ocean meditation?
Ocean meditation is a practice I teach during my retreats. The ocean is a powerful element that facilitates entry into a meditative state.
A yoga teacher since 2019, I adopted this practice in search of relief from sports injuries. I then discovered how little I knew about my body. By working on my flexibility and mobility, I realized I could take better care of myself. This discovery fascinated me and made me want to go further in well-being, to pass on these benefits and to learn to rest, breathe and meditate.
At first, it wasn't easy for me. But I quickly found that the more I practiced, the more it helped me refocus and calm down.
Practicing by the ocean makes this experience even more accessible. It's easier to disconnect your mind, to let yourself be hypnotized and lulled by the ocean. This is really the point that fascinated me and made me want to explore this practice further.
So I came up with ocean meditation. On Ocean Therapy®️ TV , I've developed guided videos to replicate this experience, even at home. Just looking at the ocean and listening to the waves is enough to find calm and soothe the mind.
What specific benefits can this practice bring, both physically and mentally?
Oceanic meditation has a powerful effect on the mind. When we have stress peaks we tend to no longer be able to breathe, we feel stuck, our ideas become blurred, and we can no longer think. Breathe consciously, calm down and put your mind in off mode, really helps to regain calm, and that's essential.
On a physical level, this practice helps release tension, relax the chest, and improve oxygenation of the body. By reducing stress peaks, we avoid negative impacts on the body, such as excessive hormone release, which damages you both mentally and physically.
How to begin this meditation, even far from the ocean?
I invite you to explore Ocean Therapy®️ TV , where I offer filmed meditations facing the ocean in various places that I love: the Basque Country, Vendée, Sri Lanka... Even through a screen, the sight of the ocean and the sound of the waves provide real benefits. I really encourage you to try it.
Any advice for those who want to get started?
Be kind to yourself and persevere. Meditation is a practice that takes time. The more you explore it, the more you'll feel its benefits.
Life can be a bit complicated sometimes, we can have difficult experiences but you have a precious weapon: your breathing, your ability to enter a meditative state.
When faced with a difficult challenge, you have two choices: let the stress take over you, with all the negative consequences that this implies, or decide that, even if you cannot change the situation, you can choose not to let yourself be overwhelmed or damaged. You have the power to tell yourself I am going to make sure I live this period better by working on my breathing, my meditation so as not to hurt myself because I only have one life and I want to live it to the fullest!
That would be my final advice.
If you are interested in exploring ocean meditation, I invite you to join my organized retreats on the West Coast and other locations in Europe, or to discover on my online platform For enjoy it wherever you are — in the city, far from France or the ocean — and feel all its benefits.
Thank you very much, and see you soon by the water!
